De Zerbi: I am not better than Frank or Tudor but passion can restore Spurs' DNA

Roberto De Zerbi said he is not a better coach than Thomas Frank or Igor Tudor but his "passion" can help restore Tottenham's DNA as he looks to steer the club clear of relegation.

Pep: I didn't know Silva was leaving!

Icon

Pep Guardiola has paid tribute to Bernardo Silva as his captain nears the end of his Manchester City career but claims he is yet to be told of his departure.

Silva looks set to leave City when his contract expires this summer after nine years at the Etihad Stadium, and assistant manager Pep Lijnders all but confirmed as much last week.

Every good story comes to an end and I hope he enjoys the last months because there is only six weeks and has a good farewell, said Lijnders.

There has been no official confirmation by the club or Silva, however, and Guardiola insists he is still in the dark.

The City manager said: Im so grumpy with Bernardo because a month ago I said, If you take a decision I have to be the first to (know) and he didnt say anything to me yet.

I said, jokingly, Tell me, I deserve it but he didnt tell me so I dont know whats going on!

Silva has made 450 appearances for City since his move from Monaco in 2017. His honours include six Premier League titles, the Champions League, the Club World Cup, two FA Cups and five Carabao Cups.

After Citys underwhelming 2024-25 season, Guardiola appointed him captain this term, believing he had the perfect attributes for the role.

The best decision I made this season, Guardiola said.

The team comes first. Sometimes politicians say something like that the country comes first but then after it never comes first but with Bernardo it is what it is.

Last season was the toughest one but he was always there, leading by example playing and training good.

Guardiola says Silva has been one of the most reliable players of his near 10-year tenure.

He said: He is really good in all departments. He plays a lot of games. Nine years we have been together and no injuries and never out.

He can play in different positions, he is so smart and reads every moment what the action and game requires.

Guardiola, whose side travel to Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday, values the 31-year-old for far more than goals and assists.

He said: I judge players when everything is difficult and he always steps up and says he is here to help.

He has been an incredible signing for us, incredible. I love this club amazingly and I would love if he could stay and finish his career here but I do not know.

He will decide what he will decide and announce to the club and the media and the fans. It is his decision.

Moyes: No decision on Grealish future yet

David Moyes insists no decision has been made yet on whether or not Everton will seek to keep Jack Grealish beyond the end of the season.

Grealishs season-long loan from Manchester City was curtailed by a foot injury in mid-January, but though his campaign is over he has remained at the club seen as a sign that he wants to make the move permanent this summer.

We wouldnt be making any decision and even if I was I wouldnt be saying anything at the moment because Jack has had quite a serious operation in his foot so weve got to give that time to heal, Moyes said.

Jack is here and we love having him around. Hes great company. If you look at the contribution in the 15-20 games he played, he was great and he gave the crowd a lift, and he certainly played a big part in where were sitting right now.

Arteta: No time right now to discuss Arsenal contract

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta says there is no time right now to discuss extending his contract.

'Liverpool add Minteh to list of targets to replace Salah'

Liverpool have added Brighton winger Yankuba Minteh to the list of options to replace Mohamed Salah this summer, according to the Daily Mail.

Salah confirmed he would be leaving the club at the end of the season and Liverpool are now assessing options to replace him on the right wing, with Minteh listed as a potential target.

The report suggests Brighton would like to double the 33m they paid Newcastle to sign Minteh in 2024.

Liverpool boss Arne Slot coached the player at Feyenoord and could now look to reunite with the Minteh at Anfield.

RB Leipzig's Yan Diomande, Juventus' Francisco Conceicao and Hoffenheim winger Bazoumana Toure are other options the club could reportedly consider.

Farke: Tanaka happy at Leeds

Daniel Farke insists Japan midfielder Ao Tanaka is happy at Leeds and will get further chances to prove he is a top Premier League player.

Tanaka has struggled to force his way into Farkes starting line-up this season and there has been speculation over his future, with reports this week claiming he is open to leaving Elland Road in the summer.

The 29-year-old played a key role in last weeks FA Cup semi-final win at West Ham, scoring the opening goal, and could start in place of the injured Anton Stach in Monday nights Premier League game at Manchester United.

Farke said: Lately there have been really good performances, so based on that I dont see anything. I know that he loves to play for this club and is happy with us.

Im very happy with his development because Ao is not the youngest anymore and for him its his first season in a top flight.

Hurzeler: It would take a lot for me to leave Brighton

Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler says it would take a lot to tempt him away from the club, amid speculation linking him with Bayer Leverkusen.

Hurzeler has been touted as a possible replacement for Kasper Hjulmand, should he pay the price for Leverkusens struggles this term.

But the 33-year-old talked up the links he has forged at Albion, who will continue their battle for European football when they face Burnley on Saturday.

I feel there is a connection, especially with the fans, a connection that we started building through the highs and lows and now we want a strong finish to the season, he said.

It will take a lot to take me away from this place. I feel this is a long-term project here, a project where we can be very successful. We need to keep working hard but the main thing for me is how is the relationship with the players, with the team, staff, owners and supporters.

I feel really settled and I feel the foundation is really strong and really good that we can build something.

Would a move stifle Rogers' rise?

Icon

Your Site' Patrick Rowe:

"Morgan Rogers has made the leap from promising young player to a fully fledged England international on the cusp of superstar status in the Premier League.

"However, the reason that has been made possible is the freedom he has been afforded at Aston Villa.

"Teams looking for a traditional winger to hug the touchline and provide width should look elsewhere.

"Rogers' best moments in a Villa shirt have come in a fluid role off the striker.

"The 23-year-old is free to roam across the fluid front four Unai Emery implements and thrives in the space this creates ahead of him.

"When given the luxury of picking the avenues he wishes to pursue in game, the maverick-like moments of brilliance follow as a result.

"Rogers is a unique blend of pace, power, technical ability and precision. Those are the traits capturing the attention of Europe's elite but one thing he is not is a cog in a system.

"Villa have been down this road before with the sale of Jack Grealish to Manchester City for 100m. Another unique talent that set Villa Park alight.

"Their latest star would likely command a similar figure and a similar trophy collection to Grealish would undoubtedly follow suit.

"But Rogers' return for England, scoring once in 13 appearances, is an insight into what happens when he's confined to a more rigid system, tasking him with operating primarily down the right wing while working with Thomas Tuchel.

"Given space and freedom, the rewards are obvious with Rogers. Limit that and you risk stifling one of the premium rising talents in world football."

Arsenal, Chelsea, Man Utd and PSG eyeing move for Rogers

Latest from Your Site News' Lyall Thomas, Kaveh Solhekol and Danyal Khan:

Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain are all considering a summer move for Aston Villas Morgan Rogers.

Despite signing a new long-term deal until 2031 last year, Villa are expected to face interest in Rogers following his continued rise under the guidance of Unai Emery.

Villa are in a strong position, however, with five years left on the 23-year-old's contract, meaning he will be one of the highest-valued players of the summer.

Villa are also on course to qualify for the Champions League, sitting in fourth place with a five-point gap to Liverpool in fifth, and have one foot in a Europa League semi-final after beating Bologna 3-1 on Thursday.

Rogers has scored 27 goals and added 21 assists across 115 appearances for Villa since arriving in a deal worth up to 16m from Middlesbrough in 2024

Your Site News reported then that the former Manchester City youth was under consideration at both Arsenal and Chelsea, as well as Tottenham, before putting to bed any idea of a move in 2025 by recommitting to Villa.

This summer, Arsenal are looking to sign a new left-winger and Rogers is among the names on their list alongside the likes of Newcastles Anthony Gordon and PSGs Kvicha Kvaratskhelia.

United are also looking at the left-wing position, with Your Site News already reporting on their admiration for RB Leipzig star Yan Diomande and Evertons Iliman Ndiaye - and they also like Rogers.

Chelsea's plans for the summer may also include a new forward, while PSG will always look to strengthen with the best players, and Rogers could make himself attractive to more clubs with a positive impact for England at the World Cup in June.

Iraola coy on future after talks with Bournemouth

Icon

Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola declined to give an update on his future but admitted he had used the international break to speak with the club.

It is believed Crystal Palace are moving onto other managerial targets as a replacement for Oliver Glasner, while Iraola has been linked with a return to Athletic Club

Iraola, though, may be inclined to stay with Bournemouth unless one of the Premier League's top clubs comes calling. The Cherries have offered him a new contract but Iraola is yet to give the club an answer.

"Yes, obviously we spoke. But I'm sorry I don't have news for you today," he said when asked about whether he'd held talks with Bournemouth's hierarchy.

"There is no changes on that side but we spoke, yes."
